Kufara Creations celebrates the creative spirits of a select group of talented bead artists in Southern Africa. Starting out as children in their villages they were taught that if you have a skill, you will be able to move ahead in life. They learned how to make key rings using simple wire. As they became more skilled, they ventured into making three dimensional animals and flowers, adding little colorful glass beads to increase the appeal of their wire creations and moved to the cities to grow their market. Traditionally they trade on street corners - their colorful beaded sculptures adding a distinctly African detail to the cities in Southern Africa. After seeing the potential of these artists over the years, Kufara Creations was formed to help elevate their work and encourage their creative growth, making unique, bespoke lampshades and mirror frames to showcase their extraordinary talents to an international market.
Kufara, in the artist’s native tongue Shona, means happiness. A fitting name to describe the creations of these wonderful artists.
